I recently returned from a wonderful two-week holiday in the US ‘wild’ west with my wife Jo and her family.
The first couple of days were spent around the town of Logan, Utah, where Jo’s Great Uncle put us up. He was an incredible host and kept us well fuelled and lubricated for a couple of excellent hikes around Logan Canyon.
Next up, a change in weather as we headed north to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We spent four days there exploring the Grand Tetons and a snowed-up Yellowstone by various modes of transport – hiking, cable car, bicycle and ‘automobile’. We saw a load of deer, elk, moose and even a some bears!
After a couple more nights back in Logan, Jo and I headed off by ourselves in a plucky little rent-a-Fiesta for the second week of our holiday. The south was calling us, specifically three amazing national parks – Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. Each of the three had their own unique character, and they all completely bowled us over with their beauty and grandeur. I actually preferred the two less celebrated national parks as my eyes could just about digest them, whereas the Grand Canyon is an unfathomable mile deep and 18 miles wide.
